Talking About Them Bear Necessities
Published by tiffany on September 29, 2014 - 12:00amToday the plan was to go to Disney's Animal Kingdom for Extra Magic Hours from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM but Travis's alarm either did not go off or he turned it off so we over slept. Instead we made it to the park a little bit before 9 AM so we decided to just head on over to Tusker House for our breakfast reservation. It's a character breakfast buffet you meet safari Mickey, safari Daisy and safari Donald food was good with a nice atmosphere. After finishing up our breakfast we headed over to the Festival of the Lion King theater. We've heard a lot of great things about the show and decided to check it out this trip. It was fun and full of energy definitely something I wouldn't mind seeing again if we have the time on future visits. We said our goodbyes to Timon and Pumba and made our way over to the Kilimanjaro Safari ride. This was our first time riding since they took the poacher story line out which I thought made the ride more enjoyable. I'm not sure if the time of year had something to do with it but this trip through the Savannah we saw more animals then we typically see. Next we made our way over to Expedition Everest one of our favorites and a must do every time we visit. We survived the yeti and headed into the gift shop to see about getting our ride photo linked to our Magic Memory Maker but a cast member stopped us and told us that the chips in the bands know when we get on a ride and the photo automatically gets sent to our Memory Maker which is just amazing!
Our next stop was meeting Dug and Russell from Disney's Pixar film Up they're also so wonderful to meet! We also met a nice family in line and talked to them a good bit about Disney rumors and educated them on Star Wars Weekends. It's always fun being that really snobby park goer that educates other people in line. On our way out of the park we went in through some shops and did some browsing. We exited the park and took the tram back to our car and made our way over to Disney's Magic Kingdom!
When we first entered Magic Kingdom we stopped at various photopass photographers and got a lot of shots of us walking down Main Street. Afterwards we made our way over to Princess Fairytale Hall to meet the famous Ana and Elsa of Arendelle. The wait time for Ana and Elsa for standby during our stay was around 100-120 minutes long! So I definitley recommend getting a fastpass if at all possible. Both characters were wonderful and very animated when talking with us. And we just loved how awkward Ana looks in the photo they took of us really spot on. After we got out we saw that there was an absolute torrential downpour yet again. So we made our way over to Tortuga Tavern for some Taco bowls and to hopefully wait out the storm. Typically on our past visits over the summer it would rain 10-20 minutes here and there and then it would stop. Well during and after our dinner the rain would not let up. At this point we were reluctant to purchase any type of ponchos or umbrellas. We had more fast passes scheduled but we weren't really feeling like Splash Mountain when we were already wet and Thunder Mountain does not operate in the rain. Pulling out our smartphones we decided to look at radar and after seeing the large amount of rain over us we decided to leave for the night. Unfortunately we should of checked our email first when a ride goes down that you have fastpass for they give you another one to take it's place. So we instead could of at least rode Haunted Mansion and then probably of left.
We returned to our hotel and proceeded to watch some Food Network and hang out for a bit. Travis wanted to go back through the gift shop, drop off some dry cleaning and head to the arcade. We made our way to the luggage desk outside the lobby where they told us to go for dry cleaning and received attitude and different information from the luggage desk. They were really rude with us and very unhelpful and undisney like. Fuming from our experience we made our way to the gift shop made a few purchases and calmed down a bit. Next we made our way over to the arcade played Fruit Ninja and some air hockey. Afterwards we made our trek back to our hotel room for some more Food Network reality tv watching and some sleep! Tomorrow Hollywood Studios where you can be part of the movies!
